Age is not only determined by how old you are, but it also matters the age of your brain cells, body cells and internal functioning. Both the inner and outer surface of a human being is at risk of ageing and premature ageing if not taken care of. Meditation increases an enzyme’s activity named telomerase. This repairs DNA damages that occur due to various factors. When biomarkers of the cells are tested following meditation, the length and activity of the cells show an increase in the central nervous system. The activity of neurons is also supported by this boost without any effort.
A young person would do a lot to their lifelong health by simply allowing themselves to focus on meditation a few minutes a day. This per day a few minutes brain exercise would cut off half of the health problems along with fast ageing processes. Seven thousand teenagers have tested and tracked the effects of meditation . In a university, Zen meditation was followed by groups of students, they experienced during meditation that their lifestyle also changed easily due to the flexible mind and emotion regulation the meditation gifted them during training.
Telomeres also play its role in decreasing experiential avoidance, a tendency that suppresses experiences of thoughts, emotions, sensations etc. avoidance is unhealthy that is why confronting and accepting breaks the denial and adds self-compassion, high self-esteem, confidence and happiness in youth. The ageing of the human brain has linked with grey matter in the cerebrum. Those who meditate they have less destruction of the matter and better life of cells with a high rate of development of cells that makes functions of the brain well maintained in long-term . The correlational and regression series of studies are all consistent with similar results.
Meditation also slows down brain activity, rather than boosting everything in speed and making it worse for human beings. MRI shows healthier brain cells when the information is processed slowly; grey matter remains enough to execute the neurological functions . Ageing also speeds up by oxidative stress and emotional burdens, meditation is very well in the balance of these mood and stress-related issues. When regenerative processes slow down the ageing happens at a slower rate as well. This gives longer life with healthy brain activities related to movements, cognition and also produces calming effects to give rest to internal organs.
The daily routine of meditation needs to be adopted for best outcomes just like someone’s sleep, diet, exercise schedule and intake of water and protection from the sun. In the long-term studies on those who meditate for years i.e. more than five years they have shown brain activity and body’s health of individuals who are up to fifteen years younger than them. DHEA is hormones whose lack causes ageing, along with cortisol whose high production cause ageing are regulated with meditation. The cells growth high rate is also a reason behind Psoriasis. Being young is biologically maintained physically appeared.
