A huge research body have shown that meditation is powerful for some cognitive processes which includes tasks that demands attention and creativity. This covers over two types of thinking – divergent and convergent thinking, analytical thinking etc. Training through meditation enhances mind skills and provides resources to follow and gain its benefits. Creativity is one of the unique benefits that a person gets with regular meditation. Researchers have devoted enough time in these trials to find out the effect of meditation on creativity as conceptual clarity and to consider diverse meditation characteristics.
It is very unfortunate that meditation has not gain its popularity as it should get because of its association with religious rituals and meaning that it originates from Buddhism. This connotation made it hard to accept by people around the globe regardless of proves from experiments in the neurosciences . The main areas that are affected positively with meditation are attention and concentration. The neuroimaging presents one point to feel compassionate with this practice. Experts who train for meditation have experienced and shared that brain becomes active and connected with inner self of a human being’s internal self after observing oneself through meditation.
Meditation Leads To Higher Cognitive Skills
An experiment was arranged in 2011 at the University of California. A researcher, named Davis, assessed the participants with his colleagues. The population was a range of people including young adults and geriatrics from 22-69 years old. The study concluded that mindfulness techniques generate kindness, self-compassion, empathy, love and joy . This sounds like strong impact of meditation on human being’s emotional intelligence and better performance on high functioning cognitive skills. Focus and attention are the major parts that are first affected by meditation along with other mental functions. The study is now replicated this year where improvements in mental health and brain functioning are still the same.
Several interventions based on mindfulness practice propose different methods of this training for the sake of healthy individuals and lifestyle. Especially on students, the healthy mind is achieved in children and teens in an Italian school. The students found emotional awareness by controlling their mind actively and consciously. The instructors ran programs in schools for ages 7, 8 and 15 years. The frequency was thrice a week and span was eight weeks.
